Repair vs Capitalization – RC 101

Cost: Free. Knowledge Level: Basic. Credit Hours: 1.5
Deduction and capitalization of expenditures related to tangible property under section 263(a), i.e., the "repair" regulations.  These regulations are effective for taxable years beginning on or after January 1, 2012, and thus have already become effective in 2012 for calendar year taxpayers.  Although the regulations include many of the rules that were contained in the prior proposed regulations and prior law, the regulations also include several significant new rules.  As a result, taxpayers need to understand what implications the regulations may have on their businesses, what opportunities the regulations present, what action, if any, must be taken to comply with the regulations, and when such action must be taken.

A Multifamily Developer’s Guide to Energy Tax Incentives – MF 101

Multifamily developers are eligible for significantly greater Federal energy efficiency incentives than their commercial counterparts.
